A Jeep Wrangler is a compact 4×4 sports utility vehicle that debuted in 1987. The Jeep Wrangler succeeds the jeep of World War II and has become a true American icon. Jeeps are best known for being rugged off road military vehicles. The civilian jeep better known as the CJ was inspired by the military jeeps and became the predecessor of the Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep Wrangler was a vast improvement over the CJ. The new Jeep Wrangler design offered far more passenger comfort, a larger wheel base, less ground clearance and the signature square headlights. These new enhancements made for a vehicle that was versatile both off and on road, appealing to a diverse group of consumers.

Modeled after the CJ, the Wrangler preserved the live axels positioned in the front and rear of the vehicle. Honda unveiled the next generation Pilot with some mixed reviews about the design. The new 2009 Pilot has a boxier, brawnier look than the previous version but this design could take a little getting used to.

The body is larger and longer and looks less like a crossover but instead like a small SUV. The headlights are also boxy and are much larger and winder than before. The enormous grill, which is becoming a staple of Honda’s 2009 line-up, reminds me of the large grill on the new Acura MDX.

The rear quarter panel is more boxy than before and similar in style to the 2008 Jeep Liberty. The back also looks similar to another Chrysler vehicle, the Chrysler Aspen from some angles. The rear taillights are also a bit similar to the new Dodge Caravan. Inspiration from Chrysler? Maybe, maybe not.

Moving inside the steering wheel has been redesigned. A major change is the relocation of the shifter from the column to the lower dashboard.

Even though technological practicality is the theme of the interior there are more buttons which on the center console and arm rests. This ads functionality to the vehicle and more options for the driver but it seems there are too many buttons and knobs which can confuse or even distract the driver.

The 2009 Ford Edge is a high-end crossover SUV manufactured by the Ford motor company, based on the Ford CD3 platform shared with the old generation Mazda6 and is marketed in a ever so slightly adapted form as the Lincoln MKX. The platform is shared with others, including the Mazda CX-9 crossover, the Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, and the Lincoln sedans.

The Edge attempts to bridge the gap that exists between minivans, such as the now discontinued Freestar, and the more truck-like SUVs, for example the Explorer. Ford officially places the Edge lower down than the Taurus in the crossover Sports utility vehicle lineup, despite not being noticeable smaller.

The 2009 Ford Edge is the latest model in the Edge range and that attempts to live up to the demand for a spacious, yet stylish, car. This five-passenger utility vehicle has several interesting features. Ford insists that this is much more than just a car, suggesting that it is a cross between a minivan and a truck.
