The 2009 Honda Pilot

Honda unveiled the next generation Pilot with some mixed reviews about the design. The new 2009 Pilot has a boxier, brawnier look than the previous version but this design could take a little getting used to.

The body is larger and longer and looks less like a crossover but instead like a small SUV. The headlights are also boxy and are much larger and winder than before. The enormous grill, which is becoming a staple of Honda’s 2009 line-up, reminds me of the large grill on the new Acura MDX.

The rear quarter panel is more boxy than before and similar in style to the 2008 Jeep Liberty. The back also looks similar to another Chrysler vehicle, the Chrysler Aspen from some angles. The rear taillights are also a bit similar to the new Dodge Caravan. Inspiration from Chrysler? Maybe, maybe not.

Moving inside the steering wheel has been redesigned. A major change is the relocation of the shifter from the column to the lower dashboard.

Even though technological practicality is the theme of the interior there are more buttons which on the center console and arm rests. This ads functionality to the vehicle and more options for the driver but it seems there are too many buttons and knobs which can confuse or even distract the driver.

The New Citroen Berlingo

Citroen have recently renovated the Berlingo vans, which were one of the most successful light commercial vehicles on the market. The new version of this popular van is ready to take over the industry with further improvements and changes since the original model.

The New Berlingo features two different versions here in the UK, the L1 and L2. The L1 van has been extended slightly, and although still compact, now contains a larger load area created by lengthening the van by 240mm and widening by 80mm. It can carry upto 625kg or 850kg which has increased from the original 600kg or 800kg, these changes help to make the van more versatile and able to carry slightly heavier loads. You can extend the load area further by folding down the passenger seat to fit in longer items.

Other changes have been made to the Berlingo to make the van more stylish, for example the new shape is more aerodynamic to lower noise levels while driving and creates a modern look. The new design has maintained practicality with headlights and rear lights moved to avoid minor damages, the windscreen has been made bigger to give maximum visibility to the driver and large cab doors give easy access.

Another great benefit of the New Berlingo is the extra storage space that’s been added in to give the driver even more room. Further more you can now find a glove box on the passenger side, behind the steering wheel and above the windscreen. You could also put your lunch in the larger door pockets, the central console or the storage area under the driver’s seat.

One of the biggest changes to the New Citroen Berlingo Van is the addition of the Extenso Seating feature on the LX model. This is essentially a third seat located in between the two front seats giving the flexibility of 3 seats up front. The Berlingo van is the one and only van in its class to offer three seats up front making it by undoubtedly the most flexible small van on the market.

If you’re looking for comfort factors then the Berlingo comes with central locking, electric windows, heated wing mirrors and a radio/CD stereo as standard. The luxury features continue with the external temperature and internally adjustable door mirrors to make your life easier.
