If you are in the market for a car DVD player, this article is for you. Odds are you are searching for something great to entertain the children in the back seat. This is what compels most people to install a DVD player in their vehicle. Long trips are boring to most children and you want to make the journey as enjoyable as possible for everyone involved. Movies help make this possible. You want the best value for your money but there are many choices and a variety of prices in car DVD players these days. Now you have helpful information that will introduce you to the players available today and aide in making an educated decision on your purchase of a car DVD player.

The first thing you will want to consider is price. Like most electronics, there is a broad range of prices for car DVD players, depending on what you want them to do. You can buy an inexpensive model for $90, install it yourself, or you can go pricey in the $1500 range. Brand names simply flood the Internet. Do you need an expensive brand name to get a good car DVD player? There are good models that sell for under $100. However, you do not want to buy the lowest priced one simply because it is the cheapest. There are models in 4 basic styles: headrest, sun visor, in-dash, and flip down. Decide which style fits your needs. Familiarize yourself with the features in your price range to find the car DVD player that meets your needs. Almost all the newer DVD players are progressive scan, which will produce a good picture. Car DVD players are compared generally by their screen size and picture quality as well as video formats, audio formats and picture formats.

Decide whether you want to have the car DVD player installed in a shop by a professional or do it yourself. If you want a nice and neat monitor hanging from the headliner of your car with the cords hidden, you probably want to go with the professional car DVD player installation. This is a good looking, but costly option. If you don’t mind seeing the cords and you don’t mind seeing the band around your headrest, then go ahead and install the car DVD player yourself, it is really not that hard, and it plugs right into your 12 volt outlet.

Consider when choosing a car DVD player if your children are going to scream when the movie goes dead. In the non-battery models, this will happen at every gas stop and every soda break. Every time you kill the car engine, the movie will shut off and will not memorize the stopping point on the DVD. It just may be worth the extra cash to get the battery back-up model.

As the driver, do you want to hear movie audio only for the 8 hour trip to the Rocky Mountains? If not, you may want to think about headphones for the DVD viewers, and then relax with your own favorite CD.

You can find car DVD player models with extras that play music, videos and pictures. Others can play games and display calendars. Decide if these extras are something you want to pay for.

Car audio/video (car AV) or commonly known as mobile audio, are used to describe the sound or video system fitted in an automobile. Stereo is the reproduction of sound using two or more independent audio channels through a symmetrical configuration of loudspeakers in such a way as to create the impression of sound heard from various directions, as in natural hearing. Car stereo subwoofers are a specific type of loudspeaker for low frequency reproduction. Mobile ‘subs’ are not very different from any other application of sub in terms of construction. However it is more common in aftermarket that visual aesthetics take on a more significant role in design than other types of sub drivers, including high contrast paint schemes, grill covers, translucent or refractive materials.

A car stereo subwoofer is used when existing low frequency production is unsatisfactory, either in frequency range or in volume. Design goals have led to subwoofer, both driver alone and whole packages, with some extreme difference from one another. Space conscious design has reduced some driver depth to 2″ or less, or enclosure depth to 3″. Pure loudness through increasing sound pressure in DBL has led to some driver’s with excursion as great as 4″ and vented components to cool the motor of the speaker. Quality and clarity has led to driver enclosures being tuned by construction to resonate or neutralize certain frequencies.

A car stereo subwoofers output level can be increased by increasing cone surface area or by increasing cone excursion. Since large drivers require undesirably large cabinets, most subwoofer drivers have large excursions. Unfortunately, high excursion, at high power levels, tends to produce more distortion from inherent mechanical and magnetic effects in electro-dynamic drivers. Subwoofers use speaker drivers (woofers) typically between 8″ and 21″ in diameter. But single prototypes that as large as 60″ have been manufactured, and drivers as small as 4″ may be used.

Car stereo subwoofers are typically constructed by mounting one or more woofers in a cabinet of medium-density fiber-board, oriented strand board, plywood, plastic or other dense materials. It is depending on the design of the loudspeaker enclosure, the desired sound pressure level, the lowest frequency targeted and the level of permitted distortion. The most common car stereo subwoofer driver sizes in professional audio are 10″, 12″, 15″ and 18″.

Now you can get the same experience you would in a home theater in your vehicle. There are options for purchasing a true 5.1 surround theater system on the market today. A true 5.1 surround system is made up of two front and rear speakers, a center speaker, and a sub woofer for low-end frequencies. The vehicle set-up is typically the same.

You can buy a Dolby Digital/DTS compatible DVD player (sometimes called an in-dash DVD player) and a surround-sound decoder. The most typical connection between the two components is called a digital optical cable, but be sure to check your individual pieces to make sure they are compatible. If by chance they are not, there is most likely an adapter that can be purchased to help make the connection work, but be sure to read your instructions before purchasing an adapter.

Once you have one of these car DVD players connected to the decoder by way of the optical cable, it is then possible to output the audio to the separate amps for the two front and rear speakers and the center speaker. It is then possible to bring the signal from the decoder to the receiver, which in turn allows you to use the DVD receiver to send an audio signal. Of course, if your DVD receiver has this capability, then there is no need for separate amplifiers. Typically, you will need a separate amplifier for your sub woofer. It is also possible for these speakers to be self-amplified. This is when the amplifier is built in to the sub woofer and buying a separate one is not necessary.

Another option is buying and installing a car DVD player and receiver that comes with surround sound capability. These mobile DVD players process digital signals internally, in turn rendering the need for external ones obsolete. This option will already give you all the necessary outputs your front, rear, and center speakers require. To complete the entire audio system, you will still need to purchase an amplified sub woofer or a sub woofer and amplifier separately.

iPods are the newest way to enjoy your favorite music. Since they are so popular, there are many accessories that you can buy for them. If you need iPod accessories for cars then you can just look online. They are very easy to find and if you look on the Internet then you can usually get them for a lot less money than if you buy them in the store.

One of the most popular items available for iPods are battery charging adapters so that you do not run out of battery while you are out and about. When you are taking long car trips these are essential to keep your favorite music player going for the entire trip. Most iPod batteries especially in the larger 40gb+ do not last that long so these are great additions that you should really invest in.

Holders are very popular accessories to get for your iPod. This makes your iPod less likely to slide around in your vehicle while driving. It will also help prevent it from getting scratched & damaged.

Protectors are also great to buy if you want to protect your iPod or as a gift. In case bang or hit your iPod off a hard surface or drop it, the protector will keep it safe so that it will not get damaged or scratched. Some can make the music player water/splash proof also. The protector will also make it much easier for the iPod to be clipped onto things. You can clip it onto your pocket or your key-chain.

Since iPods are not cheap to buy, you don’t want yours to become ruined needlessly. It should be protected as best as it can be in order for it to last as long as possible for the price paid for it. You can find hundreds of references to different accessories for the iPod in any music store or online search engine. It is really best to do some research on your chosen accessory to make sure that it stands up to its promise. Read some customer reviews and find a reputable dealer before you commit to a brand for your most valuable and diverse portable music player.

Car stereo speakers are an essential part of your car’s stereo system. But contrary to popular belief, they are only one part of the overall system and therefore should not necessarily be the only place that you spend money when it comes to a stereo system. However because they are so essential, this is definitely a good place to start with your spending.

If your car was previously wired with a stereo system, buying speakers that are the same size can save you time and money. Unfortunately if you are buying a more expensive stereo system, the speakers may be larger than what you already have in place. If you are car did have existing factory speakers, in some cases you can just take out the interior paneling and replace the speakers without too much work at all. Especially considering that there are existing wires, you might be able to use some of the previous wiring and plugs that already exist.

The major problem comes along when your car did not have an existing system. At this point, you may need to do some electrical work as well as metal working involving cutting into the existing car’s infrastructure. This can also be an option when your existing car’s stereo system is installed poorly or installed in an inconvenient location. If your speakers really need this kind of work done, then you should consider getting this done by a professional. By the time you go out and buy all the tools necessary for this job, you are going to spend significantly more than you would have spent if you had just hired a professional. In addition, you are going to find that you will make mistakes if this is your first time trying it.

Overall, speakers are an absolutely essential part of any stereo system. Doing it yourself can save you a ton of money, but if the job just ends up being too big, then hire a professional.
